I am particularly interested in UX research and UI design because it takes into
consideration all the aspects of a product (or service) with the user. I believe it
not
only includes the functionality and
aesthetics of a product but also emotions, empathy, and experiences - which are
harder
to achieve. From my prior
experience as a Biomedical Engineer, I had the opportunity to very closely observe
the
cognitive and usability
engineering and design methods in humans. It amazes me to see the scope of work in
the
UX research and UI design field.
I come from a very diverse background, and gradually over time, I realized that there
were many things that I was passionate about, like people's emotions, reactions, and
behaviors. I learned one
important lesson about myself in the process, that if I feel truly passionate about
something, I excel at learning and
achieving it. I was so passionate about aesthetics from a very early age, that I
wanted
to go to art school. This did not
happen when I grew older, but my passion for colors and textures, and shapes was
never
ignored. With UX designer as a
career, I want to best implement my knowledge into my work.
I am originally from Bangladesh, and currently residing in the USA as a citizen. I
got my
Biomedical Engineering degree
From the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus. I have worked as a
Research Assistant in an immunology lab, and also worked as a math tutor and maths
Teaching Assistant. I am currently
pursuing a career change, but higher study is still in my mind. My favorite pass
time is
reading, and I read a lot. Not only
does it help me understand people and their behaviors, but it also helps me navigate
my
way through life, by better
understating how the people around me think and operate. My other interests are
painting, watching Netflix, and
spending quality time with my almost-three-year-old daughter.
At last, I believe in speculative design. Where typical design takes a look at small
issues, speculative design broadens
the scope and tries to tackle the biggest issues in society.
